Muc-Off 8 Results

Suffolk Cycling Club TROG (Tunstall and Rendlesham Off-Road Group) traveled to Sussex on 11/04/10 to compete in the Mucoff8 mountain bike event and came home with some impressive results.

The marathon 8-hour race, open to individuals and teams, with over 600 competitors was a real test of endurance.

Club member and solo competitor Andrew Ward found the course challenging but rewarding; ‘it was a hard eight miles that seemed you were either slogging up-hill or hurtling down-hill, often negotiating tree roots or plowing through knee-deep mud – everything a good mountain bike course should be’.

TROG riders recorded the following results; Mike Moore and Dan Howe (4th pairs male), Andrew Ward (6th solo vets), Les Heather (14th solo male) and Stuart Brierley (24th solo masters). High finishes were also expected from Danny Ellis and Kim Marsh but both riders retired injured.

Club Chairman Phil Simmons explains how this experience is helping the club; ‘We are chuffed to bits with the level of performance shown by the race team, who fly the flag for TROG across the country. This is only the tip of the TROG iceberg however as the club is really focused on grass-roots, providing regular off-road cycling opportunities for all abilities at Tunstall and Rendlesham Forest.’
